What is Mechatronics Engineering

Mechatronics Engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering that mainly deals with the design, production planning and production of systems where machine elements and electronic units work together. Today, it has gained a structure that includes topics such as control theory, computer software and integrated software.

Mechatronics Engineer closes the interdisciplinary gap and brings together the general principles of these disciplines, enabling the implementation of simpler, economic, and reliable systems.

Where Can Mechatronics Engineer Work

Mechatronics Engineer, using the information he got from different disciplines takes part in the:

* Design, production planning and production of mechatronic systems,

* Combining mechanical and electronic systems,

* Design of control systems and development of control software,

* Design of sensor and measuring systems,

* Preparation of hardware integrated software.

Accordingly, the need for mechatronics engineers is increasing day by day in engineering jobs such as design engineering, control engineering, measurement and evaluation engineering, and management of interdisciplinary teams in technology developing companies.

Çankaya University Mechatronics Engineering Undergraduate Program

When preparing the undergraduate program of the Çankaya University Department of Mechatronics Engineering, it was especially important that an interdisciplinary structure dominates the program, that the number of proposed engineering-based elective courses is higher than the programs of similar qualifications, so that students can specialize in a field of their own design in the 3rd and 4th grades related to Mechatronics Engineering.

Another point that distinguishes our undergraduate program from other programs is that: the proposed program is strong in terms of both Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Engineering and it is a structure that does not ignore other engineering fields. It is aimed that our students can acquire knowledge in different directions and use them in their business lives thanks to both compulsory and engineering elective courses taken from engineering branches such as Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering. These are the distinguishing features of our university’s Mechatronics Engineering undergraduate program.

Skills the Program Intends to Add

It aims to provide:

  • “ability to apply theoretical and applied information to modeling and solving engineering problems”,
  • “ability to design a complex system, system component or process to meet specific requirements under realistic constraints and conditions”,
  • “ability to develop, choose, and use modern techniques and tools required for engineering applications”,
  • “ability to work effectively in disciplinary and multidisciplinary teams”,
  • “ability to work individually”,
  • “awareness of the need for lifelong learning”,
  • “professional and ethical responsibility awareness”,
  • “Turkish – English effective oral and written communication skills”.
